Building site accident £32,000

We acted for a labourer who had been working on a large building site in the construction of the Westfield Shopping Centre in West London, he had to use a dirt path around the site which was extremely muddy notwithstanding the fact that he was wearing safety boots and gloves he tripped and fell whilst carrying a concrete block which fell on to his left arm and he fractured his left hand below the left thumb, he suffered a significant injury.  We pursued both the main contractors and his own employers for a considerable period of time who ignored our correspondence and continued to do so, we eventually got in touch with their insurers AXA who after some delay accepted liability and agreed to compensate the Claimant for a very substantial sum of £32,500 which for a fracture of the hand was an exceptionally high settlement.
