Expectations When Making A Personal Injury Claim

There are many things you will want to know when making a personal injury claim such as how much compensation you will get and how long your claim will take to complete.

How Your Claim Is Managed

You do need to understand that the legal process can be a slow one, due to the large number of claims that an insurance company has to deal with at any one time. That being said, there is now an electronic claims Portal where most claims now start out, which has been developed to try to reduce the amount of time your claim will take to complete.

New legislation was developed to set out strict time limits to move claims along faster and whilst this may reduce the time your claim takes, there are a number of reasons why your claim may be unsuitable for this streamlined claims process and could leave at any point along the way.

Medical Examinations

In addition to how your claim is dealt with, you will need to have a medical examination by an expert in your particular injuries. If your injuries are more serious, you may need to be examined by a number of different medical experts who specialise in different areas.

The medical expert will then produce a report, which we will need to approve and then send to the defendant for approval too.

Valuing Your Claim

You will want to know how much your claim is worth and we will do all we can to give you a good idea of the amount you are likely to receive. However, this will be a broad valuation as the final amount you receive will depend on a number of different factors.

Fraudulent Personal Injury Claims

There has been a big focus on fraudulent personal injury claims over the last 5 years and there are checks in place when we take on a case and also by the defendant insurance company. Any distortion of the facts of the accident or about your injury could mean that you are subject to allegations of a fraudulent claim. There could be criminal proceedings and you may struggle to obtain an insurance policy if convicted.
